Frank Pavone: Anniversary of an Important Document Regarding Abortion and the Meaning of Democracy

One of the most striking, bold and sobering paragraphs ever written about the impact of abortion on the common good is the 20th paragraph of St. Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), which is marking its 30th anniversary on March 25.

It is a great antidote for the thinking that says we can be served by “pro-choice” lawmakers because “their other positions are good.” It’s easy to start counting the positions we think a politician has “right” but that’s a very superficial and flawed way of doing moral analysis. It’s like saying to a supporter of terrorism, “I disagree with you on the one issue of terrorism, but what’s your health care plan?”

Paragraph 20 of Evangelium Vitae starts by showing the radical and practical impossibility of living with the implications of “pro-choice.” Human rights are all connected – precisely by our humanity. And the exercise of human rights is completely dependent upon being alive. If the right to life is protected on any other basis than the simple fact that one is human, then it – and the other rights that depend on it – are no longer human rights. As the Pope says, “At that point, everything is negotiable, everything is open to bargaining.”

The Pope then takes aim at the erroneous idea that if abortion has been legalized according to proper democratic procedures, then that’s all that matters. He says, “The appearance of the strictest respect for legality is maintained …. Really, what we have here is only the tragic caricature of legality; the democratic ideal, which is only truly such when it acknowledges and safeguards the dignity of every human person, is betrayed in its very foundations: How is it still possible to speak of the dignity of every human person when the killing of the weakest and most innocent is permitted?”

Along with this, he has some of the strongest words ever written about what happens when the state legalizes abortion:

“In this way democracy, contradicting its own principles, effectively moves towards a form of totalitarianism. The State is no longer the ‘common home’ where all can live together on the basis of principles of fundamental equality, but is transformed into a tyrant State, which arrogates to itself the right to dispose of the life of the weakest and most defenseless members … When this happens, the process leading to the breakdown of a genuinely human co-existence and the disintegration of the State itself has already begun. To claim the right to abortion, infanticide and euthanasia, and to recognize that right in law, means to attribute to human freedom a perverse and evil significance: that of an absolute power over others and against others. This is the death of true freedom.”

Fortunately, as I write this, we have a pro-life president and a pro-life majority House and Senate. The results of the 2024 elections, like the words of St. John Paul II above, are a clear repudiation of what the pro-abortion Democrats think of the meaning of “defending democracy.”

But we can’t be fooled into thinking that the abortion extremism of the Democrat party has been vanquished. Sure, California Gov. Gavin Newsom invited pro-life conservative Charlie Kirk to be a guest on his podcast, but the Democrat governor still sees his state as an abortion destination and maintains a stockpile of deadly abortion pills.

And yes, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer crossed the aisle to vote with Republicans to avert a government shutdown but not too long ago he led the charge to block a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, calling the bill “the very definition of pernicious.” Somehow, in the minds of the Democrats, it is harmful to provide basic life-saving care for a newborn who outlives an abortionist’s attempt on his life.

The Democrats give much lip service to defending democracy, but in reality, the party was behind the state ballot amendments that – in an end run around the fruits of the democratic process there over many years – allowed the killing to resume in Missouri. Most babies had been protected by law in that state, and the new amendment will certainly lead to more deaths by abortion.

By writing about “The disintegration of the State itself…totalitarianism…the death of true freedom,” St. John Paul very clearly stated that democracy cannot flourish in a society where the murder of the unborn is a legally sanctioned, day-to-day occurrence.

House Oversight Committee to Gather Evidence About Biden’s Mental Decline That Could Invalidate His Pardons and Executive Orders

Some of Joe Biden’s pardons and executive orders may soon be invadlidated.

In an interview with Just The News, House Oversight Committee chair James Comer has said they are planning to gather evidence about Joe Biden’s mental decline that may invalidate official actions while he was in office.

“It’s questionable whether or not it’s legal to use an autopen on a legal document, but what’s not questionable is if the President of the United States had no idea what was being signed with using the autopen in his name,” Comer explained.

“That’s not legal,” he continued.  “I think at the end of the day, our investigation … could be used as evidence in trying to overturn some of those pardons and some of the executive orders, because the autopen was used so frequently … after that debate.”

President Trump reacted to Comer’s remarks on Truth Social.

“THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!” he wrote.

Back in March, it was revealed that Biden had used an autopen to sign many of his pardons and executive orders, leading Trump to declare them “void and invalidated.”

While many of Biden’s executive orders have already been undone, among those he has pardoned include his son Hunter, the infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, the treasonous former Joint Chief of Staff Mark Milley and the disgraced former Wymong Congresswoman Liz Cheney.

Trump wrote at the time:

The “Pardons” that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen.

In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them! The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden.

He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime. Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level.

The fact is, they were probably responsible for the Documents that were signed on their behalf without the knowledge or consent of the Worst President in the History of our Country, Crooked Joe Biden!

HERE WE GO: Trump Declares Biden’s ‘Autopen’ Pardons “VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT”

However, Trump’s declaration has yet to be legally resolved, meaning the pardons remain valid for the time being.

Remains of Three 9/11 Victims Identified Nearly 24 Years After The Attack

Officials in New York City have confirmed the identification of three additional victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, thanks to advances in DNA analysis.

The remains were identified as those of Ryan D. Fitzgerald, a 26-year-old currency trader; Barbara A. Keating, a 72-year-old retired nonprofit executive; and a third woman whose identity has been withheld at her family’s request.

According to the city’s medical examiner, the breakthrough came from enhanced DNA testing applied to tiny fragments recovered from the World Trade Center site more than two decades ago in the aftermath of the al-Qaeda hijackings.

“Each new identification testifies to the promise of science and sustained outreach to families despite the passage of time,” New York chief medical examiner Dr. Jason Graham said in a statement.

“We continue this work as our way of honoring the lost.”

Barbara Keating’s son, Paul, told The New York Post that the medical examiner’s office for “still working their ass off” to bring closure to the victims and their families.

“And I don’t know how to react to that. It’s just an amazing feat, gesture – it’s more than that because they’ve been doing it as their life for 24 years,” Paul Keating, 61, told The Post.

“We’re talking about moving six blocks of Manhattan to Staten Island and going through it milligram by milligram for 24 years.

”I mean, isn’t that amazing to you. No one’s ever done something like that for me, my family ever and I couldn’t thank them enough.”

Almost 3,000 people were killed when terrorists flew passenger planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.

In the years since, the city’s medical examiner’s office has worked to match human remains to those who died, with new identifications still being made as recently as last year.

Advances in forensic science have allowed specialists to revisit and test bone and tissue fragments that were badly damaged by fire, weather, and other environmental conditions.

“We hope the families receiving answers from the Office of Chief Medical Examiner can take solace in the city’s tireless dedication to this mission,” said New York Mayor Eric Adams in a statement.

WATCH: Border Czar Tom Homan Blasts ‘South Park’ Parody as ‘In Bad Form’ Amid Escalating Threats to ICE Agents

Border czar Tom Homan is not impressed with South Park’s latest episode, which mocked Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Homan appeared on NewsNation’s Cuomo on Thursday and discussed the episode, titled “Got a Nut,” which aired on August 6.

The episode made fun of ICE, particularly its hiring incentives, such as $50,000 bonuses. It also takes a brutal jab at Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem by referencing her controversial admission of shooting her family dog.

Homan did not hold back his critique of the show while speaking to host Chris Cuomo.

“Look, it’s just in bad form, especially right now,” Homan said.

“I know the [DHS] Secretary announced today we’re up over an 830% increase on assaults on ICE agents. Now we’re up over 1,000%,” he continued.

Homan explained that it was “bad timing” for the jabs due to the violence.

“A lot on the left don’t like what ICE does, but there’s a small percentage that take it too far … they feel emboldened the more and more they see this bad rhetoric coming out,” Homan explained.

The border czar noted that despite the left’s efforts, there are no shortage of people applying to help deport people who do not belong in this country.

“Last month, Border Patrol had a record number of recruiting numbers, the highest the agency’s ever seen. So there’s no shortage of people who want to come and join the ranks,” Homan said.

Many of the threats the agents face is because Biden had taken such a soft approach to deportation previously.

“For four years, ICE wasn’t able to do its job because Secretary Mayorkas told ICE, ‘You can’t arrest somebody for simply being here illegally.’ They had to be convicted of a serious crime, so ICE wasn’t doing their job,” Homan said.

“ICE is doing exactly what President Trump says they’re doing.”
